AI Assistant

Wambai's AI Assistant lets you record transactions through natural conversation. Just tell it what happened, and it creates the proper journal entries for you.

How to Use the AI Assistant

1. Go to Add Transaction and select the AI Chat tab (it's the default).
2. Type a message describing your transaction, for example:
   • "I paid $50 for groceries at Walmart"
   • "Received $3,000 salary from my employer today"
   • "Transferred $500 from checking to savings"
   • "Paid $120 electricity bill with my credit card"
3. The AI extracts the transaction details — amount, category, accounts, date, person — and creates the balanced journal entry.
4. Review the transaction and confirm.

What the AI Can Do

• Understand natural language — Describe transactions in your own words. The AI figures out the type, amount, category, and accounts.
• Identify accounts automatically — The AI uses semantic search to match your description to the right accounts in your chart of accounts.
• Learn from your history — It looks at similar past transactions to make better categorization suggestions.
• Handle multiple currencies — Mention the currency and the AI handles the rest.
• Create complete transactions — Every AI-generated transaction is a proper double-entry record, automatically balanced.

Chat Sessions

Each conversation is a chat session. Sessions have three states:

• Active — The conversation is in progress. You can continue adding details or making corrections.
• Finalized — A transaction was successfully created from this session.
• Abandoned — The session was inactive for too long (24+ hours) and was automatically closed.

You can see your recent sessions below the chat area and tap any session to resume it.

Tips for Better Results

• Be specific — "Paid $45.50 for dinner at Olive Garden last Friday" works better than "dinner expense."
• Include amounts — The AI needs at least an amount to create a transaction.
• Mention the payment method — "Paid with my Chase card" helps the AI pick the right account.
• Name people — "Paid the gardener $80" creates the transaction with the right person.
